How do I care for water-repellent clothing?

You should regularly wash water-repellent men’s activewear in the washing machine on a low temperature setting of around 30°C, with a slow spin cycle. Use a specialist detergent which is designed for water repellent clothing. If water starts to seep into the fabric rather than bead and roll off, it may be time to reproof your clothing with a water-repellent spray or wash-in treatment. Always check the care label before washing.

What is the difference between water-repellent and waterproof clothing?

Water-repellent clothing will keep you dry in light rain, but can eventually let water through if the rain is heavy or persistent. Waterproof clothing, on the other hand, is designed to keep water out even in heavy, prolonged rain. The difference comes down to how each garment is constructed. Water-repellent men’s activewear is treated so that water beads up and rolls off the surface, while waterproof garments feature a specialist membrane to prevent water from getting through, along with sealed seams for added protection.
